Welcome!

I’d like to welcome everyone who found their way to this blog. I get bouncy and happy and full of energy whenever I see there’s at least one person in the world who reads my ranting, just as my chosen screen name (Bouncing Bunny) suggests. I’d like to explain the purpose of this blog first and foremost.

Background

Every day whenever I turn on the TV, or listen to the radio or simply read a newspaper I get bombarded with negative input. By this I mean, whenever I show some measure of interest in news or life in general I find myself reading about american soldiers dying in Iraq, an earthquake destroying whole cities, people’s homes invaded by foreign powers, politicians bickering about prices and taxes while evading issues about their own opinions, new laws that seem they’re taken from the Medieval times become rule, sport fans attack innocent people, neo-nazis suddenly gain votes and popularity in some countries, insurance companies refuse to pay out insurance money, elderly are mistreated in care centers, a new virus threatens a whole continent, near extinct animals are hunted more than ever, and the list continues. There are so many problems to read and talk about, even without having to resort to the internet to keep yourself updated about these news. I can’t even name a thousandth part of all worries and troubles anyone can find in the media today.

What’s the point anyway?

Then we arrive at the point of this blog. Discussing problems on a blog is a good way of handling your problems, sharing with others what you care about and how you feel about things is very therapeutic. Receiving responses from people in similiar situations or people who can offer helpful advice are also two really good reasons to start a blog. But does a blog have to be about your thoughts on problems or issues that cause you grief? Is blogging about troubles really the only way to find yourself in a better mood? I find blogging relaxing in itself. Because when I sit down and write, anything really, I quickly find myself in a different mood than I was in just moments before. I concentrate on the text, on the small task I’ve set before myself. Once I’ve completed writing, I feel better already.

Next issue at hand is about reading a blog. What do I want to read about when I’m on the internet? It’s not always problems, and it’s certainly not news that bring me down. I’ve always thought there has to be some kind of other alternative. Some kind of feel-good website, or blog. Where you can share thoughts and ideas on things that make you feel better. Someplace that provides a kind of chicken-soup for the mood. The blogs and websites on this particular subject tend to twist to pictures about cute animals and amazing stories of how someone managed to beat cancer (or another serious issue). Whereas small stories about the smaller delights in life find themselves far in the background. Obscured by more serious issues, or amazing feats. If you happen to wish to read about everyday happiness you have to be very specific, searching for one subject at a time instead of reading about general things that make you happy.

The blog

This certainly isn’t me saying that troubles and worries and problems, whether personal, local or global, are unwarranted. Because they certainly are if they cause anyone grief. This is more me saying that everyone needs a moment or two away from worries, away from problems, away from stress. By creating this blog I hope to create someplace where anyone can come and read about the positive aspects of life. Where anyone can come in and find some time away from whatever is on your mind, even if it’s for just one moment. I’d even like to invite anyone to share your own thoughts about things that delight you. Again, welcome everyone. I hope you’ll enjoy your stay!
